چکیده

The aim of this work was the synthesis of silver nanoparticles using two types of tannins, hydrolysable and condensed, and comparing the properties of incurred colloids. Both tannins are powerful antioxidants (reductants) which differ in their chemical structure as well as certain properties, which influences the formation of silver particles as well as the composition and properties of the resulting mixture. There was compared the size and stability of reduced silver nanoparticles according to the type of tannin and the concentration of silver and further measured the residual antioxidant capacity of tannins in these solutions.

Nanotoxicity for E. Coli and Characterization of Silver Quantum Dots Produced by Biosynthesis with Eichhornia crassipes

Nanomaterials are widely used in health and biomedical applications, however, only a few studies investigate their toxic effects.  The present report signifies a contribution to the study of the toxic effects of silver nanoparticles on   E. coli cells, which is a model organism of anthropogenic pollution. The toxicity of nanoparticles depends on their chemical and surface properties, shape and ...

Seasonal Variation of Tannin Content in Wild Bush Tea

The objective of the study was to determine seasonal variation in the concentration of tannins in wild bush tea (Athrixia phylicoides L.) leaves. The BuOH-HCl_Fe reagent was used to analyze condensed tannins, whereas hydrolysable tannin was analyzed using potassium iodate. The absorbance was measured using a spectrophotometer. Significant seasonal variations in both condensed and hydrolysable t...

Inhibition of α-Amylases by Condensed and Hydrolysable Tannins: Focus on Kinetics and Hypoglycemic Actions

The aim of the present study was to compare the in vitro inhibitory effects on the salivary and pancreatic α-amylases and the in vivo hypoglycemic actions of the hydrolysable tannin from Chinese natural gall and the condensed tannin from Acacia mearnsii. The human salivary α-amylase was more strongly inhibited by the hydrolysable than by the condensed tannin, with the concentrations for 50% inh...

Characterization of Natural Tanning Extracts by FTIR and Multivariate Analysis

The tannins are polyphenolic compounds with complex structures formed by the secondary metabolism in various plants. Among the oldest applications of tannins is leather tanning. Tanning properties are due to the ability of these polyphenols to form complexes with proteins. In this study were analysed six different types of commercially polyphenolic extracts by Fourier transform infrared spectro...

The Effect of Tannins in Grape Pomace and Oak Leaf on the in vitro Organic Matter Digestibility and in situ Disappearance of Sheep

The effect of grape pomace (Vitis vinifera) and in oak leaf (Quercus libani) tannins by three runs of in vitro gas production on the organic matter digestibility (OMD) and in situ dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) disappearance were studied in four sheeps. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) was used to deactivate the tannins. In vitro gas production was recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 48, 72, 96 and 12...
